So, back to Knutsford and the Belle Epoque wedding of Jo and Andy. As one of the preferred photographers at the Belle Epoque, I met Jo and Andy on a very dark and bleak monday evening in the winter, at one of the occasional open evenings that they host so that couples can get a good feel for how this charming intimate wedding venue can look. With the roaring fires and intimate lighting it was easy to see why they chose the venue. Ive be privilaged to shoot quite a few Belle Epoque wedding occasions now and each time its always fun to find new angles and places within the restaurant. This time it was at the top of the stairs !!
So, after a quick visit to their nearby house in Knutsford, ( although I did love the fact that Jo only did her nails at 1.15 for a 2pm wedding !!) I left to meet Andy at the venue. Jo arrived in what is possibly the smallest wedding car I have ever photographed, but there was a particular significance as it was the same car that her parents brought her home from hospital when she had just been born. If you look at the images you will see just how small it is alongside todays modern beasts !!!
There are a few choices which room to get married in if you decide upon a Belle Epoque wedding. This time they elected for the upstairs room which is a lovely intimate setting for a wedding. After the short ceremony it was outside around a few places in Knutsford for some lightly posed portraits – theres lots of opportunities in Knutsford !! – and back for the reception and speeches.
Jo’s dad made a quite remarkable speech which no – one really knew where it was going to go but it certainly kept everyone highly entertained. Its also nice to hear a lot more brides doing speeches nowadays and after all the speeches – including Jo’s I left them to their evening celebrations.
Heres some of my favourite images of their day.
