The Belle Epoque in the heart of Knutsford has to be one of the most intimate weddings venues in Cheshire if not the north west of England. One of the great things about Belle Epoque weddings is the attention to detail that they pay to every little thing. For Kim and Dans wedding this even went to making sure that they found a special bottle of wine that they both loved as a complete surprise ! Kim got ready nearby in Wilmslow and made the short journey to the Belle Epoque in my favourite wedding car – a Mk2 Jaguar – yes the Inspector Morse model. I asked the driver if he had to take it easy with it being such an old car – no such thing – it had been completely rebuilt and he loved to open it up on the motorway given the chance !! As the wedding was in December the fires were roaring when Kim arrived which created a very cosy atmosphere. Now, as a photographer shooting Belle epoque weddings in winter, you have to be able to master the light – or lack of it ! Some documentary wedding photographers throw up their hands in horror at the mention of a flash gun – well Im sorry but provided you use them correctly and dont “nuke” the shot, sensitive use of flash lights have a place in my book. Anyway, heres some of my favourite images from the day. If you are considering a wedding at the Belle Epoque please give me a call and we can meet there to discuss your ideas.
